Beautiful surprise! September 1, 2009 L. Hyde (Seattle, WA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is a great sampler. Her voice is mellow and cool with a simple backing guitar. If you like Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star), Bat For Lashes, Jewel, Beth Gibbons, Tori- please get this!

Amazon classified this pop - and maybe the non-acoustic versions would be, but this is a beautiful voice, singing well-written songs, accompanied by a well-played guitar. I say give her a try - very mellow and fine. I look forward to comparing these with the "full" versions due out soon.

I was pleasantly surprised by Kate Walsh. Her voice is beautiful and a touch haunting. While each track costs 99 cents, the three-track album is free. This is some of the best free music I've heard in a while.

All three songs on this EP are excellent - beautiful and a little bit haunting. The acoustic arrangements are done very well and compliment Kate Walsh's voice perfectly, and the lyrics are interesting and worth paying attention to.
You can't judge a book by its cover, and you can't judge an album by its installer. I don't know why some people have had trouble with Amazon's MP3 installer; it's always worked fine for me on both my PC and my Mac. But if you do have trouble with it, please contact Amazon for technical support. Don't give this album a low rating because you weren't able to get it. That's just not fair to the artist or to other potential listeners.
Classic Singer Songwriter Wonderfulness! November 13, 2009 dif4us (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I await these tracks with the utmost of aticipation as my fav playlist loops around while I'm puttering around the house. Her crisp, sultry voice is full of soul and eminates a light natural vibrato that reaches inside of you and makes you -feel- the song. First, the Seafarer is an allegorical ditty probably tied to old english poem about the seafarer in some way as well, who's to know exactly what it means to her? But she talks about what a great man he is and how he is the center of her world. Tempo wise, I would consider it Andante Moderato espressivo, in english, a little faster than walking pace with some exceptions for expressiveness. Overall, when it starts out you're thinking nice voice but who cares about a seafarer, but it builds up into a more emotionally attracting song. If her vocals weren't so strong, it would be lost! Next we have On The Stage, at a little faster pace (allegretto grazioso) but still quite smooth it catches your attention right away. She shows a little bit more of the playful, lilting quality of voice in this piece, although it is still sad tonewise. This one is short, like it was something she wrote at the end of a grueling practice day... Lastly, we have the pleasure of listening to Greatest Love. The vocals have more range in this piece, and she goes between a whispery quality, to a robust one, a weary one, thick vibrato, sadness, reflection. In this song we really get a look -into- Kate Walsh. It's a treat, but it's also a frustrating, sometimes disappointing, and weary place. For listeners, though, these songs are must have to anyone who is creatively inclined, or likes to listen while reading, taking a walk, or just relaxing. If you like Kate Walsh check out Erin McCarley, there is a free acoustic version of one of her songs called Pitter-Pat in the free samples of Amazon and here is the link to the rest of the cd: Love, Save the Empty
