I T-t-t-told you this is a great Indie freebie February 28, 2010 Bobby W. (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've perused many of the free Amazon compilations recently, but this is one of the ones I keep returning to. There's a lot of variety here and it's all good, but my favorite tracks include the wonderfully oversaturated sounding "The Shaded Forests" by Deastro, "Two Dots" by Lusine and "Swamp" by Midwest Product. If you like indie pop, this download will not disappoint. Thank you, Ghostly International and Amazon!
Nice overview February 11, 2010 R. Clark (northern Illinois) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a great introduction to some of the artists on the Ghostly International label. Not everything trips the same triggers with me, but there's some really good music on this sampler. If you like some of what you hear, you owe it to yourself to check out their seriously cool Ghostly Discovery app for iPhone and iPod Touch. I haven't really been the biggest fan of electronic music, yet there are electronic artists on Ghostly that I just adore.
Great sampler February 9, 2010 RK (Hollywood, CA USA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
it's certainly worth the price of admission just for the School of Seven Bells track. Definitely a great intro to these artists as it's all very listenable. of course, some better than others. it's more of an electronic compilation of 80s retro and reworking of the disco sound, which the 3 tracks i enjoyed aren't so much of that genre. SVII being the standout, and Choir of the Young Believers and Lusine following close behind. Burn a CD and listen in your car. Support indie!
Best free sampler yet! February 14, 2010 Swimming Rabbit 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As someone else mentioned, the obvious stand-out is probably School of Seven Bells' best single, Half Asleep. If this is your kind of music, I guarantee you'll run over to buy their album, Alpinisms after hearing it (and this is a version only found on the deluxe album!). But the tracks by Lusine, Deastro, and Choir of Young Believers are also excellent. Definitely worth your time. Kudos to a certainly interesting label.
Worth a listen March 8, 2010 KanyonKris (Utah USA) I'm a fan of electronic music and this sampler was a good find for me. I really like "Hyped-Up Plus Tax" and "Triple Chrome Dipped". Also good is "Half Asleep", "Swamp", "My Radio", and "Night Court".
