5 out of 5 stars Waiting for the Sunrise listening to free alternative   February 23, 2010

I couldn't sleep so I am listening to this psycho international alternative at 4:09 AM in the morning! This has some really great tunes on it:

Zhong Nan Hai - Car-Sick Cars ***** Post-Punk Chinese band from Bejing, full of energy. These guys should tour the United States! It would be an invasion! I would love to see these guys live. My favorite emerging post-modern rock band from China!

The World is Waiting for the Sunrise **** my heart is calling the sunrise at 4:18 AM! Sounds like a mom and son jamming on the banjo before the sunrise.

Sandstorm Woman ****

Let's Go **** Australian 1960s garage rock alternative band with a lot of energy! Its really too early on Tuesday to listen to however. Not really morning music.

Shy ****

Ride Friendship *** You make my heart explode.

Truck Sweat - Tobacco ***** The lead singer of Black Moth Super Rainbow.

Marching through your head - **** ...are sheep, I am going try to go back to sleep.

This is worth downloading for free.

5 out of 5 stars The 5 stars are for the last song   March 8, 2010

"Sandstorm Woman" by Sleepy Sun is a keeper in my book. Lethargic, dreamy, spaced-out vocals (female?) and jangling, lazy guitars that go on and on and on. Fuzzed-out guitar freakishness kicks in at about 3:00. Reminds me of Espers for some reason, but more raucous and less ethereal vocals. What the heck, it's a great song, if the sample grabbed you the song extends it. Oh an now there's harmonica about halfway through, this song just keeps getting better. A shift in tempo at about 5:30 brings it closer to a rock-jam than a space-jam. Still great though. Shades of The Stooges in the last couple minutes.

The rest of the sampler is a pretty mixed bag that doesn't much grab me. But a song like this makes it all worthwhile.

Never heard of these people, time to check them out. Thanks Amazon, thanks IODA, whoever you are...

Yeah! Got the tip on Twitter and glad I did...

Best tracks are right in the heart of the album...like a baseball line-up, 3, 4 and 5 hitters are the strongest.

'Walking Thru Your Head' blends a catchy rhythm with a cheery pop-influenced melody to create a memorable tune that I'll click 'repeat' for...

More driving and edgier sounding, 'Let's Go' still makes you want to find a 60s go-go club to dance the night away. (Is that a Hammond B3 I hear?)

Truck Sweat has a nice techno groove that will make the drive from Houston to Austin a lot smoother...
